God Affirmations from the Bible
This article lists and briefly elaborates on several key characteristics of God based on the Old and New Testaments. This is by no means a comprehensive study, but even so, one can safely conclude, “If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Rom. 8:31)
God is Light, Gracious and Compassionate
- God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all. (1Jn 1:5)
- Our God is gracious, righteous and full of compassion. (Ps 116:5)
- Our God is gracious and compassionate. He will not turn his face from you if you return to Him. (2Ch 30:9)
God is Our Refuge and Salvation
- God is your refuge, and will support you in His everlasting arms. (Dt 33:27)
- My God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, my stronghold, and my savior. (2Sa 22:3)
- Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. (Isa 12:2)
- God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. (Ps 73:26)
God is Our Helper and Provider
- Surely God is my help and the one who sustains me. (Ps 54:4)
- My God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches. (Phil 4:19)
- God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. (2Co 9:8)
- In all things God works for the good of those who love him. (Ro 8:28)
God is the Giver of All Good Gifts
- God bestows favor and honor; no good thing does He withhold from those whose walk is blameless. (Ps 84:11)
- Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. (Jas 1:17)
- God is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us. (Eph 3:20)
God Is the Giver of His Divine Love
- God has poured out his Love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit. (Ro 5:5)
- Your Father in heaven is more than willing to give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him. (Lk 11:13)
- How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! (1Jn 3:1)
God Is Ever-Faithful
- Our God is faithful, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love Him and keep His commands. (Dt 7:9)
- God is faithful; He will not let you be tested beyond what you can bear. (1Co 10:13)
- God is not unjust; He will not forget your work and the love you have shown Him as you have helped His people and continue to help them. (Heb 6:10)
- Your God is with you and takes great delight in you. He will quiet you with His love. (Zep 3:17)
- Be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” (Heb 13:5)
- If God is for us, who can be against us? (Ro 8:31)
- Nothing in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God. (Ro 8:39)
- No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him. (1Co 2:9)
Our Responsibility as Recipients of God’s Love
- God is spirit, and His worshipers must worship Him in spirit and in truth. (Jn 4:24)
- Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. (1Jn 4:11)
- Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. (1Jn 4:8)
- Be of one mind, live in peace, and the God of love and peace will be with you. (2Co 13:11)
- We know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. (1Jn 4:16)
- Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. (1Jn 4:7)
- If we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. (1Jn 4:12)
Prayer for Divine Love
- May the Father direct your hearts into God’s love. (2Th 3:5)
- May you be rooted and established in the Divine Love, and grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of God. (Eph 3:17-18)
- May you know the Divine Love that surpasses knowledge and be filled with it. (Eph 3:19)
- May your love abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight. (Phil 1:9)
